How we help businesses

We know that when there is job loss in a community, local businesses can suffer too.

The Latrobe Valley Authority can support businesses to promote economic diversification and jobs growth in the Latrobe Valley.

Business transition support

We are working closely to support local businesses affected by the closure of Hazelwood power station to transition, strategise and diversify their operations.

This work is part of the $40 million Latrobe Valley Economic Development Program and is focused on retaining industry capability and jobs, leveraging the Valley’s competitive strengths, and supporting potential high growth sectors such as food and fibre, defence and health services.

Supply chain business support

Through the $5 million Hazelwood Supply Chain Transition Program, we are providing intensive tailored support to Latrobe Valley based businesses in the Hazelwood supply chain.

Business growth grants program

The $10 million Latrobe Valley Economic Facilitation Fund is for businesses in the Latrobe Valley to grow and create jobs.

Latrobe Valley Economic Growth Zone

Financial incentives are available for new and expanding businesses, including reimbursement of stamp duty on new commercial property transactions, and reimbursement of a range of state and local government fees and charges.

These financial incentives are available under the $50 million Latrobe Valley Economic Growth Zone which aims to create a better business environment for the Latrobe Valley, making it easier, faster and less costly to do business.

Find out more about the Economic Growth Zone, and accessing financial incentives your business may be eligible for.

Small Business Bus and business mentoring

Whether you’re planning, starting or growing your business, the Victorian Government’s Small Business Bus can help you to develop your business ideas and capabilities.

Small Business Bus is a ‘travelling office on wheels’ currently visiting the Latrobe Valley. Professional assistance from an information officer and advice from an experienced business mentor will be available on board. Mentoring sessions will also be delivered in council facilities.
