Magpies flock to the Valley

A new partnership between Collingwood Football Club and the Victorian Government will bring the Magpies to the Latrobe Valley for the next three years.

Latrobe Valley Authority Chief Executive Karen Cain joined Collingwood Director David Emerson at Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe today to make the announcement during the Magpies’ two day community camp in the region.

And the club’s celebrating in style with a blockbuster football and netball triple header coming to the Valley over back-to-back weekends in March.

Collingwood’s netball team will play a practice match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Traralgon on Saturday 3 March, followed by the Magpies’ round five AFLW fixture against the Western Bulldogs in Moe on Sunday 4 March.

The action will continue at Ted Summerton Reserve the following week when Collingwood’s AFL side collides with the Western Bulldogs in the JLT Community Series on Saturday 10 March.

The partnership was formed as part of the State Government’s $85 million Latrobe Valley Sports and Community Initiative, being managed by the Latrobe Valley Authority.

Under the agreement, Collingwood will host regular games, community programs and initiatives in the Valley and lead an alliance of major sporting clubs to deliver an annual calendar of major events across the region.

General admission tickets for the netball and AFL fixtures are on sale via Ticketek from 6 February.

Free entry to the AFLW clash on Sunday 4 March.
