Times Electric Australia will establish an assembly plant in Morwell to build the traction and electrical auxiliary power systems for Victoria’s next generation trains.
The boost for the Latrobe Valley will create 25 highly skilled manufacturing jobs in Morwell and seven elsewhere in Victoria.
Of these jobs, there will be six positions for apprentices or trainees, and three roles for workers from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Victorian Government is supporting the establishment of the facility as part of the Latrobe Valley Economic Facilitation Fund.
The Fund has been established to grow and sustain existing businesses, attract and facilitate new private investment, grow regional exports and access new markets.
To date, the Fund has supported 17 projects that are expected to create over 320 new jobs in the Latrobe Valley region.
