The Maltese Community Centre received $24,200 for a roof restoration project through the LVA’s Community Facility Fund. The Centre is an important and active gathering space utilised by the Maltese and general community for a range of social and community activities.
The Centre has also received a $5,000 grant for the 2018 Maltese Festa, and a $56,270 grant for renovation of the former Morwell Pigeon Club building to house the new Maltese Museum.
Works include an accessible ramp to be installed from the front of the Community Centre down the north side of the Centre. This will lead to a platform that will provide an accessible route into and between the two buildings.
The platform will be installed across the front of Museum and across the gap between the two buildings. This will allow for outdoor seating and providing easy access to the Community Centre’s facilities.
This facility will be the first Maltese Museum in Australia.
