Strategic planning grants for local sports clubs now open

Local sports and recreation organisations are invited to apply for funding to plan for their future under a new grants program released this week.

Latrobe Valley Authority’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Mike Timpano said the Latrobe Valley Sport and Active Recreation Strategic Planning Grants Program is designed to support local clubs and organisations.

“The new program will provide grants of up to $6,000 to assist our local sports and recreation clubs to develop, update or expand their strategic plan.”

“This means clubs can plan for their future to ensure their operations are sustainable,” he said.

The grant is available to sport and recreation organisations across Latrobe City, Baw Baw and Wellington Shires.

“This is about strengthening the future of our local sport and recreation clubs, who are absolutely critical in making sure people in our region are healthy and active and have opportunity for social interaction,” he said.

The grants program forms part of the Latrobe Valley Sports and Community Initiative, an $85 million investment by the State Government in sports and community infrastructure, events and associated support programs being delivered by the Latrobe Valley Authority.

Grant applications will be open for two rounds in 2018, with the first round opening this week and closing on Friday 23 March.
