Yesterday’s announcement of a $20 million Community Facility Fund for Latrobe Valley communities is a huge boost that will help make local towns more attractive places to live, work and visit.
Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Latrobe Valley Authority Kylie White said: “This funding is our chance to revitalise our Valley communities and help attract people and jobs to our region.”
“There’s two funding streams available, the first is called Liveable Latrobe Valley and includes projects that make the Valley a better place to live and work. This will support local people to make a difference in their own community.”
“These projects might include town beautification and streetscape projects, infrastructure that connects our communities, heritage and cultural projects, public hall upgrades, community space upgrades, community events or projects to attract more visitors.”
“The Livable Latrobe Valley funding is in three levels – up to $5000 for community events; up to $50,000 for community space upgrades; and between $50,000 and $999,999 for town infrastructure and major upgrades.”
“The other funding stream, called Active Latrobe Valley, is for projects up to $1 million that will make our communities healthier places to live.”
“These projects include open space improvements that families, residents and visitors can enjoy – such as development of parks, playgrounds and passive recreation areas; and upgrades to recreational precincts, sporting facilities, rail trails, walking tracks, and bike paths.”
“There’s so many great ideas out there about how we can improve our local area and create jobs along the way. We look forward to working with local people interested in applying for a grant.
