Domestic building starter program graduates Izzabelle and Hayley

In a week filled with Latrobe Valley graduations, the Gippsland Trades & Labour Council (GTLC) sent another group of young people out into the workforce having successfully completed their Domestic Building Starter Program.

We spoke to two graduates, Hayley and Izzabelle, who began the course having no idea about construction and trades.

Over two weeks they earned their White Card, Working at Heights, and Confined Spaces qualifications, in addition to getting on the tools (literally) and exploring pathways to employment.

Hayley is now seeking a mechanic apprenticeship whilst Izzabelle has secured work with a cabinet maker and plans to begin an apprenticeship.

These young people will continue to be supported by the GTLC on their journey to work.
