First Latrobe Valley businesses receive transition grants

The first 19 grants have been awarded to Latrobe Valley businesses to help them transition their businesses and keep jobs and skills in the Valley when Hazelwood power station closes.

Latrobe Valley businesses in areas as diverse as high voltage operations training, engineering fabrication, professional services and earthmoving will be the first to receive grants of up to $16,000 each to help them develop plans to diversify their businesses from a reliance on Hazelwood.

The grants are part of the Hazelwood Supply Chain Transition Program to help businesses plan for the future and identify business opportunities in new sectors.

Local companies will be supported by business specialists who will work one-on-one with businesses to help them develop tailored transition plans and then implement them. Further grants are available of up to $55,000 to eligible businesses to assist implement their transition plans.
