We like to do 'different', and that's why we're pleased to be involved in Youth Jobs Connect at the Latrobe Youth Space, an event for young people who face barriers to employment.
Traditional jobs expos are often geared toward adults rather than young people. Yet young people face a variety of challenges when it comes to finding a job.
Not everyone fits into mainstream education, not everyone has strong support networks, or, sometimes, young people haven’t had the opportunity to learn about different careers that might work for them.
Youth Jobs Connect aims to do things differently. A variety of activities are on offer: job interviews in virtual reality, using art to foster conversation, as well as the opportunity for casual discussions with employers and young people who’ve landed great jobs in Gippsland.
As Gippsland transitions away from traditional industry it’s important that there are pathways for everyone.
We want our young people living, studying, working, and thriving in Gippsland.
