Gender Equality Everyday

Activism and respect – raising awareness

The recent 16 Days of Activism is a global campaign designed to unite people and take action to prevent gender-based violence.

The campaign started on November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and ran to December 10 (Human Rights Day), with Gippsland’s campaign ‘Let’s Chat’ offering a whole lot of activities and opportunities that got us all thinking, talking, and working out what we can do better.

The LVA team dived into robust discussions around what respect means as part of artist PollyanaR’s BIGRespect pop-up photo campaign.

We know that the issues around gender equality and gender-based violence are not going to be solved in 16 days but this campaign does great work to raise awareness and open discussions.

The LVA is committed to creating the conditions for every Gippslander to thrive now and in the future. That includes better gender equality outcomes and safe participation for girls, women and gender diverse people in our community.

Watch this space for details of the work we are doing with our Gippsland partners to improve gender equity in our region.
