Major upgrades for Sale Showgrounds

The Sale Showgrounds will be significantly improved thanks to a $500,000 grant to the Sale and District Agricultural Society which will mean they can redevelop the facilities and increase their capability to host large-scale events.

The investment will see the demolition of the existing administration and amenities block and construction of a new 480 square metre building housing the administration centre with office space, storage, bathrooms and a recreation area with kitchen and laundry facilities.

The Sale Showgrounds are a vital community facility, hosting a large number of major events each year including the Sale Show which attracts around 14,000 attendees over 3 days.

This project is expected to boost the local economy by $3.8 million with more than 15,000 additional visitors per year and an extra 4,500 overnight stays. It will also help create 12 ongoing jobs.

The upgrade is being made possible thanks to the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community Facility Fund, which has so far provided grants for 19 projects across the Latrobe City, Baw Baw and Wellington Shires with a total value of $1,153,986.
