Team Gippsland Represented at Federal Climate and Energy Mini Jobs Summit

A mini jobs summit was held in Canberra this week bringing together key government and industries as a pre cursor to the Federal Government’s Jobs and Skills Summit to be held early September.

This was a golden opportunity for the Latrobe Valley Authority and some of our leading industry partners to engage with Federal Government, advocacy groups, industry organisations, community representatives and unions on how to best harness the opportunities for future jobs in climate and energy. There was a really strong focus on the need to support workers and their communities through the transition

The Federal Government is investing $100 million to support 10,000 New Energy Apprenticeships and $10 million in a New Energy Skills Program. Apprentices who choose to train in the new industries will receive up to $10,000 to help improve training uptake. Under the New Energy Skills Program, the Government is committed to working with states, territories, unions and industry to ensure workers have access to fit-for-purpose training pathways.
