Delegation Visit

Working together on Transition for global outcomes

On Wednesday, 9 August, the Latrobe Valley Authority was thrilled to welcome a Vietnamese parliamentarian delegation participating in an Australian National University-led masterclass on climate and energy. The delegation was interested in Australia’s experience in addressing climate change, focusing on how Gippsland is managing its transition.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from the CEO of the Latrobe Valley Authority, Chris Buckingham, followed by key presenters, setting the tone for meaningful discussions and productive networking. Delegates from different parts of the Vietnamese Government listened to presentations from Federation University, Energy Australia, Latrobe Valley Council and Gippsland Climate Change Network. The presentations were centred on community values around mine closure and transition, Yallourn power station and mine, economic investment, and practical ideas to further enhance transition.

Following the presentations, the group engaged in a question-and-answer session to delve deeper into specific topics, presenting a unique opportunity for our visitors to learn about the strategies and initiatives helping to shape a cleaner, greener and more energy-efficient future in Gippsland
